Awesome book store: The Booksmith

I walked into the Booksmith book store in San Francisco with high hopes, and yet it was above all expectations. Once inside I asked for the book Divergent, which I'll review later for you guys, and Lauren O'Neill, the childrens' buyer came back with the book in less than twenty seconds. I also asked for the Fourth Stall which she got to me again in less than twenty seconds. I started a conversation with her about this blog and she invited me into a group of kids that review advance books and write reviews, so when I exited the store I came away with a free advance readers edition of Wildwood, which I can't wait to read and review.

This awesome book store is full of all kinds of book from adult non-fiction mysteries to books for kids just learning to read. The service there was super nice and they helped me find all the books I wanted. Overall, this is an excellent book store and I highly recommend this book store for all readers.

Flush, by Carl Hiaasen

This book is a good book about saving the environment. It's realistic fiction. It has a grabbing law aspect which included issuing subpoenas house arrest and gathering evidence to bring bad guys to court. I didn't expect certain characters to end up being bad. I highly recommend this book for third through fifth grade reading levels. This is a great website for the author: http://www.carlhiaasen.com/index.shtml

The Tomorrow Code, by Brian Falkner

This was a confusing book about time travel. It was great though. It had a strong beginning and closing chapter. All the characters were described well and so was the setting. Right when I thought the ending was near I found new surprises ever few chapters. This is a epic, highly recommend book for sixth through eight grade. This is a good website about the book: http://www.tomorrowcode.com/

Masterpiece, by Elise Broach

This is a cute and funny novel. I loved all the cool facts I learned while reading it. It had me up all night reading. A few chapters were boring but overall I highly recommend it for third grade to fifth grade. It had many well illustrated pictures. Great for reading aloud to youngsters. The Maze Runner, by James Dashner

This book is suspenseful, exhilarating, non-stop action, and a funny read. I loved it and highly recommend it. It has lots of surprises and an adventurous plot. Well described setting and characters. It's violent; be aware. It is a book that you will be thinking what will happen next. I couldn't find a good website for this book.

Ashes, by Kathryn Lasky

This book is excellent. It is full of detail and a believable plot. You have to know the basics about the Holocaust before reading it. It is the best of Lasky's books. Great for sixth grade through  seventh grade reading levels. Visit her link at  http://www.kathrynlasky.com/KK/News.html

Elephant Run, by Roland Smith

This book, like the previous Roland Smith book, had a confusing start. Again you have to push through to get to the the good stuff. I highly recommend this book, excellent plot and good descriptions of the setting and characters. Visit the author at http://www.rolandsmith.com/

Independence Hall, by Roland Smith

This book had a terrible beginning, it made no sense. I put it down, but eventually started it again. You have to push through the beginning to get to the good part. Overall the book is alright and is recommendable but did not leave me thinking I loved the book. Visit the authors website at http://www.rolandsmith.com/books.php

The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins

This is an epic, violent, gory, gripping, amazing book. I literally could not stop reading it. I loved how all the characters played an important role and they were well described. I recommend this for grades sixth through eighth. If you were to get a book at the book store this would be the one. Visit the author's website at

Review of the Alchemyst, by Michael Scott

This book was excellent and I highly recommend it for fifth through seventh grade reading levels. It had cool history facts and a bit of a play on history, like one of the main characters claims responsibility of the Great Fire. It was funny and had it's moments of action and suspense. I couldn't stop reading. Visit the authors website to learn more.
